Meet The Sparent VA: Lindsay

Hello!

I’m Lindsay and I could not be more thrilled to be working with Sparent- The Mother Of All Virtual Agencies

As a mom to five year old twins, I'm a pro at figuring it out, making it work, and making it seem easy, all while "having my hands full" (any other mom of multiples will get that one)!

I've spent the last 10 years working in real estate and loving every second. I loved the relationships I got to build with my clients while we worked together and I also loved the back end aspect of it. I found I missed that part the most during the time I took off during the pandemic. As a stay-at-home mom, I was no longer planning client appreciation events or doing any marketing for new listings or open houses. I started wondering if there was a way to utilize the skills that I've been using f in a way that would benefit others and still allow me to be flexible for my children.

My Virtual Assistant Toolbox

While my two kids were in pre-school I started building my toolbox of virtual assistant skills. Many of the skills I would be using were ones I’ve done for years, but the idea of branching out on my own was still intimidating.

There are so many ways I can help small business owners and entrepreneurs, beginning with helping you to decide what you need the most help with.

Some of my virtual assistant skills:

  • Write and plan blog content

  • Newsletters

  • Canva graphics

  • Virtual event organization

  • Social media management

  • Inbox and calendar management

  • Email marketing

My Favorite Quote

“If your dreams don’t scare you, they are too small”. —Richard Branson

I love this quote because it reminds me to push myself beyond my comfort zone so I can grow in ways that sometimes surprise me. While continuing to push myself, having support from a community of like-minded Sparents allows me to always put my best self forward for myself, my family and my clients.

Play

When I'm not working, I'm probably off somewhere with my family. Soccer games, dance, swimming or a good 'ol nature walk with our 12 year old pup, Lucy. I love to read, though I prefer audiobooks or podcasts these days so I can listen on the go! I'd also never turn down a trip to the beach or an afternoon of binging a good show. Everything in moderation!

Another passion of mine has always been crafting in some way. I love being creative and this is for sure a hobby that my daughter has developed as well. This past Christmas I received a Cricut as a gift and every morning my daughter excitedly asks, “What are we making with your fun machine today, Mommy?”. Our favorite thing to make is cups and while we believe you can never have enough fun cups, our cabinets were soon full and we started branching out and sending gifts to family and friends. We are hoping to get to some craft fairs this spring/summer and sell some of our goods! She is the best little entrepreneur and is hoping to one day have “bowls of coins” from selling the cups she has made. I mean, who doesn’t want bowls of coins all over the place?

Why Sparent?

With Sparent, I can be available for my family and be present for my children while still pursuing my own career and continuing to improve on my skillset as a virtual assistant.

Having such a flexible job opportunity is truly a dream come true. I love working with people but having the ability to do it from my own home, on my own time, while being there for my kids is what many can only hope for. Just last week I was able to surprise my kids in their preschool class as a guest reader. They were thrilled, and so was I!

I have learned though, that I do my best work early in the morning. While I used to consider myself a night owl, I have found after several years of getting up early with my twins, that I am most productive in the morning. I think the key to being successful when working from home is figuring out when your most productive time is, and carving out some time blocks during those hours when you can focus best.

My Productivity Tip:

My simple trick to being as productive as I can each day, is to write down your top three most important things each morning and focus on those first, one at a time. I started this practice years ago after taking a course when I was working in real estate. Gary Keller, the founder of Keller Williams, has a quote about focusing on one thing at a time- “What's the one thing I can do, such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?” Everyone’s one thing may be different; mine may be helping you develop a standard operating procedure, yours may be hiring a VA! This has been huge for me in accomplishing the things that need to get done each day. Sometimes it's a big work commitment and other times it may be scheduling that dentist appointment that somehow keeps ending up on the bottom of the list.

I’m sincerely looking forward to getting to know my clients and being able to form those relationships, while also helping to propel their business forward and allow them to leverage virtual assistant help so they can focus on growing their business or finding more time for themselves. Let me do what you need to get done so you can focus on what you want to get done. Stop worrying about the day to day tasks and start focusing on what will grow your business and your life.
